I'm late to the game with this comment, but amidst my being inspired by your insights, I let out a 13-mile laugh when I read about the guy with the Blue Tooth. Was he SERIOUS?! Your retort about the ring tone answered that well!

Great content - thanks!!!

Congratulations, my friend, on running the half-marathon! Great article. I would love to add your story my sequel to "13 Lessons in 13.1 Miles: How Running a Half-Marathon Can Help You Succeed in Business and in Life."
It was engaging, funny, and inspiring. My favorite part (beyond your getting passed by Elvis) as your reason for running:

"I initially decided to train for a half marathon . . . a daily constant reminder that my professional and personal journey in life is 'a marathon not a sprint' and for me to treat it as such."

Awesome. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, in Russian pronounced Tishe yedesh, dal'she budesh -- basically, the slower you go, the further you get.

Thanks again, Coach.

Comment on 13.1 Observations Turned Business Insights From The Maine Half-Marathon

Most people would have been satisfied to finish a marathon, but you went beyond the distance to reflect on lessons learned. Congratulations, John, on your determination and valuable insights.

Comment on 13.1 Observations Turned Business Insights From The Maine Half-Marathon

This is one of the most moving and insightful articles I've read in a long time.

Sometimes an activity that seems to have nothing to do with one's major course in life is the one that reveals the most profound experiences and lessons.

Coach Bru is not a professional runner- but his participation in this event was meaningful to him and now through this article- to us.

Don't sit on the sidelines. Find something to train for an get to work!

Best thoughts!
